Screen issues when connecting a Samsung 2023 OLED monitor to a PC
You may experience certain issues when connecting Samsung 2023 OLED monitors (models G95SC and G93SC) to a PC, such as screen flickering, a blank screen, or color abnormalities. This guide includes troubleshooting steps you can take to solve such issues. For instance, make sure you are connecting to the monitor's HDMI/Micro HDMI or DisplayPort. If your PC only has a USB Type-C output port, you can use a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or cable, or a USB-C to HDMI adapter or cable to connect to the monitor.
Note: The PC's USB-C port must support Thunderbolt 3 and above or DisplayPort Alt Mode. Please use an authorized cable or adapter. The USB Type-C port of Samsung G95SC and G93SC monitors supports data signal transmission only. Display signal transmission is not supported.
The following are five common screen issues that may occur when connecting Samsung 2023 OLED monitors (models G95SC and G93SC) to a PC. General troubleshooting steps for these issues include rebooting both devices, unplugging and reconnecting the cables, and updating the monitor’s software and graphics card driver to the latest versions. However, you can review our steps below for specific solutions.
The screen flickers on and off
If you've enabled VRR (FreeSync or Adaptive-Sync) settings on your PC and experience screen flickering during gaming or content playback, consider turning on the monitor's VRR Control feature. VRR Control optimizes the signals coming from the GPU to mitigate screen flickering; it’s an additional feature designed to enhance the viewing experience.
• Model G95SC: Navigate to Settings > All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > VRR Control > On.
• Model G93SC: Use the Jog button to navigate to Menu > System > VRR Control > On.
I connected my PC to the monitor’s DisplayPort, but the screen blinks or does not turn on
First, try updating the graphics card driver to the latest version.
Your PC's DisplayPort may not support the 1.4 standard. Check your graphics card's DisplayPort support specifications. If 1.4 is not supported, change the DisplayPort version on the monitor, and then reconnect the cable.
• Model G95SC: Navigate to Settings > All Settings > Connection > External Device Manager > Input Signal Plus > DisplayPort > Off.
• Model G93SC: Use the Jog button to navigate to Menu > System > DisplayPort Ver. > 1.1 or 1.2.
If the BIOS setup screen does not appear after connecting the PC with a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or a USB-C to DisplayPort cable, change the DisplayPort version. If you still have problems after changing the DisplayPort version and reconnecting the cable, please contact the cable’s manufacturer.
I connected my MacBook to the DisplayPort of my Samsung monitor, but the screen is flickering or not displaying
To connect your MacBook and G95SC or G93SC monitor using the DisplayPort, you must use a USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or cable. Connect the USB-C (Thunderbolt) port on your Macbook to the DisplayPort on your monitor.
Note: Please use a genuine, MFI-certified USB-C to DisplayPort adapter or cable. Non-certified products may have degraded signal characteristics and may not display properly. The adapter or cable must be compatible with DisplayPort Alt Mode, Thunderbolt 3, or Thunderbolt 4.
5120 x 1440 @ 240 Hz resolution does not display
Make sure that your PC's graphics card supports 5120 x 1440 @ 240 Hz, is updated to the latest version, and that you are using a certified, compatible cable (such as an ultra high speed HDMI cable or a DisplayPort 1.4 cable).
Do not use an adapter with the cable; instead, connect the cable directly to the monitor. When using a Mac, connect the HDMI cable directly from the HDMI port on the Mac to the monitor’s HDMI port. Then, the resolution and refresh rate can be adjusted using the PC's display settings.
Note: Please check if Game Mode is enabled when using the G95SC model. Navigate to All Settings > Game > Game Mode.
When connected using HDMI, the screen is blank, the color is abnormal, or there is no sound
Check if your external device supports HDMI 2.0. If not, change the HDMI version.
• Model G95SC: Navigate to Settings > All Settings > Connection > External Device Manager > Input Signal Plus > HDMI > Off (when the HDMI input signal is turned off, the input signal is set automatically to HDMI version 1.4).
• Model G93SC: Use the Jog button to navigate to Menu > System > Input Port Version > 1.4.
