Eliminate and prevent undesirable odors from your Samsung dishwasher
Consistent cleaning and upkeep of your dishwasher are essential to thwart and eradicate mold development and other origins of unpleasant odors. This guide provides remedies for existing odors and preventive measures to ensure your dishwasher remains consistently fresh-smelling.
- Clean the interior of the dishwasher: Taking out all removable parts, such as the drain area, filter, nozzles, and door seal. Utilize a solution of warm, soapy water and white vinegar for cleaning. Consult your user manual for instructions specific to your model. Exercise caution and refrain from using bleach in dishwashers with a stainless steel interior.
- Run hot water in the sink: Verify that your dishwasher is supplied with hot water ranging from 49 to 65 degrees celsius to ensure effective cleaning and odor elimination. If the water doesn't heat up promptly, inspect your water heater or seek assistance from a plumber.
- Run a cleaning cycle: Utilize a cleaning agent such as chlorine-based detergent, white vinegar, or a dishwasher cleaning tablet in an empty dishwasher. Run either the Self Clean or Normal cycles, adding the cleaning agent mid-cycle. After completing the cycle, leave the dishwasher door ajar for proper ventilation.
- Check for an odor from the sink drain: If odors persist, they could be originating from the sink drain or garbage disposal. Thoroughly clean these areas or seek assistance from a plumber.
- Check for other dishwasher symptoms: Identify additional symptoms such as poor draining or error codes that may suggest an underlying issue. If the dishwasher operates effectively but still emits odors, consider seeking professional service.
- Don't leave dirty dishes in the dishwasher: Avoid leaving dirty dishes in the dishwasher for prolonged periods. Run a rinse cycle between full loads to prevent the buildup of odors.
- Leave the door slightly open: After use, leave the dishwasher door slightly ajar to facilitate moisture escape and prevent odors. AutoRelease Dry models will do this automatically.
- Wipe down the tub and inside of the door: Regularly clean the interior, tub, and door, especially if the dishwasher won’t be used for some time. Ensure thorough drying to prevent odors associated with moisture.
