Last Update date : 2024-11-26

If your Samsung washing machine has a mildew smell or visible mold, addressing it promptly is crucial. Follow this step-by-step guide to resolve the issue:

Mold
1 Run a Spin-only Cycle

Ensure the drum is empty and drain any remaining water by running a Spin-only cycle

2 Add Chlorine Bleach

Pour liquid chlorine bleach into the detergent compartment up to the max line. Avoid the bleach compartment as this step specifically targets mildew and mold.

3 Select a Self Clean Cycle
  • Do not run a self-clean cycle with laundry inside, as it may cause damage.
  • After adding bleach, close the washer lid or door, press the Power button, select Self Clean, Self Clean+, or Pure Cycle, then press Start/Pause.
  • Self Clean cycles typically last 1 hour for top load washers and 4 hours for front load models. If unavailable, use a Normal cycle.
4 Wipe the Tub

After the Self Clean cycle, use paper towels to wipe away any residue inside the drum.

5 Run a Rinse+Spin Cycle

Run a Rinse+Spin cycle to remove remaining residue. Repeat as needed until the drum is clean.

6 Let the Washer Dry

Leave the lid or door open to air dry the washer completely. Open the detergent drawer to help with drying.

7 Clean the Pump Filter (Front Load Models)

For front load washers, clean the pump filter located behind the lower front panel to prevent odors. Refer to the washer's manual for detailed instructions.
