Just finished a vigorous workout? Here's how to ensure your exercise clothing smells fresh for your next session.

1 Immediately change out of your workout clothes and wash them after every use.
2 Hang the clothes to air out before washing to prevent bacteria growth. Avoid leaving them crumpled in your gym bag or laundry pile.

Note: Regularly cleaning your gym bag helps prevent persistent odors in your workout clothes.

3 For extra smelly garments, soak them in a solution of one part white vinegar to four parts cold water for 30 minutes. Rinse with regular water and air dry before washing.

4 Remove sweat stains or deodorant buildup by scrubbing the affected areas with an old toothbrush dipped in detergent.

5 Turn clothes inside out to target odor-causing bacteria from the inside. Ensure all zippers are zipped up to avoid snags.
6 Load the washer without overfilling. A smaller load allows the detergent to effectively reach all areas of your clothes.

7 Use the right amount of detergent in the washer's compartment. Over-sudsing can trap bacteria. Opt for a sports detergent or laundry booster for stubborn odors.

Note: Avoid using fabric softener as it can trap odors and bacteria.

8 Select the washer's Active Wear cycle, or use the Delicates cycle with cold water if unavailable. Avoid hot water and aggressive cycles which can damage stretchy fabrics.

9 Smell the clothes post-wash; if odors persist, run another cycle without adding more detergent.
10 Air dry your clothes to preserve elastics. If needed, use the dryer's no-heat or lowest heat setting.
