How can you fix a TV that turns on but has a blank screen?

Last Update date : 2024-10-07

"No Display" issue on a Samsung TV refers to a problem where the television is not showing any picture or video. It might be caused by the power supply, an improper input or source selection, or a fault with the TV's internal hardware or software.

TV has no display

Check if the TV is on or off:

  • Press the Home button on your remote.
  • If the TV showed the menu, then the source is not correct or it is not receiving a signal.
  • If the TV did not show anything, this might mean your TV is not ON and might not be working. Check the guide on TV not turning ON.

Samsung TV "No Display" issue:

1 Check if the standby LED is on.

By holding your smartphone under the TV, you can easily find the standby LED. If the standby LED is not turned on, unplug the power cable and plug it back in. Then disconnect and reconnect the Invisible Connection cable between the TV and the One Connect Box. Make sure that the Invisible Connection cable is not pinched or bent sharply.

Now, check the standby LED again. if the LED is turned on, press the power button on your remote control to turn on your TV. If the snandby LED turns off when you press the power button, your TV is correctly connected to the power supply.

2 Check if the TV is set to the same source as the external device.

This can be done by accessing the input or source menu on the TV's remote control and checking to see if the correct input is selected.

3 Softly tap the screen with your finger.

If the part of the screen you tapped on blinks, your TV is correctly connected to the power supply.

4 Reset the TV.

Unplug the TV from the power outlet and leave it unplugged for a few minutes. Then plug it back in and turn it on.

5 Check the external device.

Make sure the external device (such as a cable box or a streaming device) is on and properly configured. Also try connecting a different device, or using a different source port. If the TV can display a picture in any other setup, then you've ruled the TV out as the cause of the issue.

6 On the remote control, press the Home or Menu button.

If the menu screen is displayed, either the external input device is not working properly or the connection to the TV is faulty. Check the connection of the video input cable to your TV or One Connect Box. Make sure that the external device is turned on. If it does not turn on, make sure the power cable is properly connected to the device and to the wall outlet.

7 Check the connection of the video input cable to your TV or One Connect Box.

Make sure that the cables between your TV and the One Connect Box or external devices are properly connected. Also, make sure that the correct source is selected on the menu screen.

If the same problem continues, try connecting the other external device to the TV using an HDMI cable. If the display is correct, your external device may be faulty.
