What to do if a registered TV on the SmartThings app disappears

Check the wireless network status

If the router and the TV are far apart, it may result in slow data reception or temporary interruptions when loading the SmartThings app. As a result, the communication between the TV and the app may not be smooth, which can cause the connection process to fail.

Step 4. Make sure the device is connected to your Wi-Fi network. If not, select the network and enter the associated password.

Notes:

  • To ensure you have a stable internet connection, try to open a webpage on your mobile device.
  • If there are already 10 devices connected to the router, you may experience registration failure.

Confirming the location of your device

If you can't find your TV on the SmartThings app after registering it, try changing its location or checking the list of all devices.

Step 1. Tap Device (at the bottom of the screen), and then tap the name of the location.

Step 3. Check the list of the devices and try to find your TV.

Step 4. If your TV is not on the list, tap the Home icon to choose another location.

Step 6. Tap the name of the new location.

Step 8. Check the list of the devices and try to find your TV.

Check for software updates

Ensure that your smartphone's software and the SmartThings app are up-to-date, and in case they are not, update them. Additionally, update the firmware of your TV if required.

Note: The SmartThings app is compatible with phones running Android 8.0 or higher, and iOS 12.0 or higher.

Step 1. Open SmartThings and tap Menu, at the bottom of the screen.

Step 3. Navigate to and tap About SmartThings.

Step 4. If an update is available, tap Update.

Note: If the Update button is not available, it means that your app is already up to date.

1 Press the Home button on the TV remote and navigate to Settings.

Note: On newer Samsung TV models, you will need to select Settings, and then select All Settings.

2 Select Support.
3 Select Software Update.
4 Select Update Now.
