Removing and cleaning the glass shelf above the crisper drawers in a Samsung French Door refrigerator
Warnings and important notes:
- Handle with Care: Glass can break easily and cause injury. Always handle the glass shelf with care.
- Damaged Clips: If the retainer clips are damaged, they cannot be replaced individually. The entire shelf must be replaced since the clips are part of the assembly.
- Temperature Caution: Avoid using hot water to clean the glass if it is still cold to prevent cracking.
Instructions:
- Remove both fruit and vegetable drawers. To do this, slightly angle the drawers toward the center of the refrigerator as you slide them out.
- Find the tabs on both sides of the drawer divider/water filter housing.
- Press in on the tabs located on each side and gently separate the shelf from the water filter housing.
- Lift the shelf slightly as you pull it out.
Tip: Angling one side of the shelf downward while pulling can facilitate easier removal.
- Once the shelf is removed, locate the shelf glass retainer clips at the back left and right corners where the glass meets the white plastic frame.
- First, turn the shelf over and place it on a clean, flat surface. Then, locate the shelf glass retainer clips located on the back left and right corners where the glass meets the white plastic frame.
- Lift each of the back corners of the shelf (one at a time) and gently push in on the tab that is holding the clip in place. Push only on the side of the tab closest to the center of the shelf to release each clip safely.
- Once both clips are removed, gently lift and separate the glass from the shelf frame.
- Wash the glass panes with water and a mild detergent or glass cleaner. Wipe dry with a clean, lint-free cloth.
- To reinstall the glass shelf, reverse the removal steps.
