How to properly use detergent in your Samsung washer
Using the right detergent in your washing machine can make a big difference in the cleanliness of your clothes. However, it's essential to understand the type of detergent, the correct amount, and where to place it. If you're looking for answers on how to use detergent effectively in your Samsung washer, you've come to the right place.
Note: The information provided applies to washers sold in Canada. Screens and settings may vary for washing machines sold in other countries.
Choosing the right detergent is crucial for your Samsung washing machine. It requires High Efficiency (HE) detergent. You have the flexibility to pick your preferred brand, as long as it's an HE detergent. If you're unhappy with your detergent's performance, consider switching to another HE detergent. Whether you choose powdered or liquid detergent, their cleaning effectiveness is generally the same. However, keep in mind that powder can be less soluble in cold water, while liquid detergent can be used for stain pretreatment, though overuse should be avoided.
Caution: Avoid regular, organic, natural, or HE detergents with natural ingredients (e.g., vinegar or baking soda) as they can harm your washing machine.
Determining the appropriate detergent amount depends on your load size and the type of detergent you're using. Some detergent bottles provide guidelines, and their caps can act as measuring cups. Always follow these recommendations to avoid using too much detergent. HE detergent is highly concentrated, so you won't need as much. If you're dissatisfied with your detergent's performance, try a different one rather than increasing the amount. Using excessive detergent can lead to washer buildup and performance issues. Some Samsung washers come with auto dispensers to ensure accurate detergent and softener measurements.
Important: Avoid exceeding the MAX line in your washing machine's detergent drawer to prevent damage to your clothes and the washer.
The way you add detergent depends on your Samsung washer type:
Flex Wash washer
The upper washer uses an Aqua Pebble to release detergent. Fill it with detergent (avoid exceeding the MAX line) and place it in the tub.
The lower washer has a detergent compartment on the left side.
Top Load washer
Open the lid and then pull out the detergent drawer. Then, add liquid detergent to the liquid detergent cup, in the main compartment.
For powdered detergent, follow the same steps, adding it directly to the compartment.
Front Load washer
Pull open the detergent drawer and add liquid detergent to the liquid detergent cup, in the main compartment.
For powdered detergent, follow the same steps, adding it directly to the compartment.
HE detergent pods can be used in your washer. Simply toss them into the tub or drum instead of using the detergent drawer.
Note: Avoid using detergent pods in the top washer on the Flex Wash model, as it's too small for them to work correctly.
For the cleanest clothes, follow these tips:
• Sorting: Separate your laundry into white, color, and bedding piles. Check garment care tags for specific washing instructions.
• Pre-treating and pre-soaking: Use color-safe liquid detergent to pre-treat stains. Many Samsung washing machines offer pre-soak and prewash options.
• Loading: Don't overload your washer, and adjust the detergent amount based on load size.
By following these guidelines, you'll ensure your Samsung washer effectively cleans your clothes while prolonging its lifespan.
