When it comes to laundry, many of us simply toss in our jeans and T-shirts, select the Normal cycle, and consider the job done. However, your Samsung washing machine offers much more. It features a range of customizable settings designed to ensure that your clothes and linens come out spotless every time. By choosing the right cycle and settings, you can help your garments maintain their vibrant colors and extend their lifespan.

  • Coverage: This guide covers all cycles, settings, and features available on Samsung washers sold in Canada.

All the various options on your washer might initially seem daunting, which is why we've prepared an initial overview of their purposes and functionalities. We'll explore these features in more detail in the next sections.

Cycles

The cycles on your washer are programs specifically designed for different washing needs. They immerse your clothes in water, rinse, and spin them. Each cycle is tailored for different types of clothing. For instance, the Bedding cycle is optimized for washing blankets or comforters, while the Delicates cycle is softer, ideal for items like undergarments that require gentle handling.

Settings

The settings control various aspects of the wash cycle, including the water temperature, spin speed, and soil level. For example, one cycle might use hot water and a high spin speed, whereas another might use cold water and a medium spin speed. While each cycle comes with default settings, you typically have the flexibility to modify them, although some limitations may apply.

Features

Unlike settings, which are necessary for operation, features offer additional convenience but are optional. A notable feature is Delay Start, which allows you to schedule the start of a wash cycle at a later time, providing flexibility to fit your schedule.

Once you understand all the different terms, you'll be ready to run a cycle on your washing machine. Before starting, ensure you load the washer, add detergent and any other additives, choose your cycle and settings, and close the door securely.

1 Power on: Press Power to turn on the washer. Then, rotate the cycle selector to choose a cycle.

Note: On some models, cycles may be selected by pressing a button.

2 Adjust settings: Modify the cycle settings (Temperature, Rinse, Spin, and Soil) as needed.
3 Activate features and start a cycle: Choose any desired features such as Delay Start or Pre Soak. Then, press and hold Start/Pause (sometimes labeled Hold to Start).

4 Cancel a cycle: To stop the cycle, press Start/Pause (or Hold to Start) again. If canceled, the type of washer you have will determine whether the tub will drain automatically.

Note: If your top load washer is equipped with an Active WaterJet, you can pretreat your clothes using the built-in faucet. Press the Active WaterJet button to activate the faucet, press it again to stop the water, and then press the Power button on the washer to drain the tub before beginning a cycle.

The following sections detail all the cycles and settings available on our washers. Since not every model includes all options, it's important to choose the cycle and settings that best match your needs and are available on your model. Carefully review the descriptions to identify the most suitable options.

Additionally, always check the laundry tags on your items to ensure you're using the correct settings, such as temperature. For more laundry tips and tricks, refer to our guide on achieving cleaner clothes.
