Unusual flame colours on your Samsung gas cooktop
Flames on your gas cooktop are generally expected to be blue, with the possibility of yellow, orange, or purple tips. Yellow tips are more common when using liquid propane. Here, we provide guidance on resolving issues related to unusual flame colours and ensuring your cooktop performs optimally.
Note: The information provided is intended for gas cooktops available in Canada.
If one flame appears to be an uncommon colour, start by turning off the cooktop and allowing it to cool. Then, conduct a thorough cleaning of the burner (refer to the final section of this guide) before testing it again.
Troubleshooting: If the issue persists, consider replacing the burner head and cap.
If the problem persists even with new components, it's advisable to seek professional assistance. Reach out to our dedicated Service Centre to request service.
Yellow or orange flames may indicate lower oxygen levels in the air, possibly due to humidity (especially if using a humidifier) or air currents caused by appliances like air conditioners or hoods. In rare cases, fluctuations in gas pressure could also contribute to this phenomenon. No immediate service is required, and cooking can continue safely.
If flames appear in colours other than blue or yellow (which may appear orange), get in touch with your gas provider. If the issue persists and your gas provider cannot resolve it, promptly connect with our Service Centre for professional assistance.
Note: The brass parts of your burner may change colour with use. This is normal and won't affect performance. You can clean brass parts with a brass cleaner.
Wash the heads and caps
Before removing these components, note their size and location. Incorrect reassembly can impact cooktop performance. In case of any uncertainty, you can always consult your user manual for guidance.
Clean these parts in hot soapy water, rinsing them thoroughly afterward. Use a plastic scouring pad for stubborn residue and a sewing needle or twist tie to unclog small holes in the burner head.
After cleaning the burner caps and heads, confirm that the burner port openings aren't plugged.
Clean the burner base
Wipe the burner bases with a damp cloth. Be careful not to scratch, deform, or damage the bases. Make sure to fully dry the burner bases before using them.
Caution: Do not let water get into the burner base and the brass gas orifices.
Clean the cooktop surface
With components removed, directly clean the cooktop surface using a soft, damp cloth. Enamel cleaners are effective for most cooktops.
