Find the version of your SmartThings Hub
SmartThings Hubs allow you to connect all of your different devices, such as smart locks, lights, outlets, thermostats, and more. You can also connect to the SmartThings cloud and the SmartThings app. But what if you are not quite sure which hub you own? Let's find out which version you have as well as some of the great features it can offer your home.
Note: The provided information refers to devices sold in Canada. The available screens and settings may differ for devices sold in other countries. You can visit the SmartThings website to check device compatibility and gather more information.
SmartThings Wifi is a mesh Wi-Fi router with SmartThings and HomePass by Plume built in. It will replace your current Wi-Fi router and allow you to increase the strength of your home network by using additional Wi-Fi sub hubs. This Wi-Fi router will say "SmartThings" and "SAMSUNG" on the front cover. Its model number is ET-WV525BWEGCA (for Canada).

- Speed: AC1300 (866 Mbps @ 5GHz, 400Mbps @2.4GHz)

Connect Home is a smart Wi-Fi hub that you can use to conveniently control and monitor your network from your phone. As a bonus, you will enjoy corner-to-corner Wi-Fi coverage with mesh networking. Connect Home can also manage your SmartThings devices.

The SmartThings Hub (2018) is the third version of SmartThings’ core hardware, released in August 2018. This SmartThings Hub will say "SmartThings" on the right side of the front cover. Its model number is GP-U999SJVLGDB (for Canada).
Some key features include:
- Wi-Fi connection: Connect to SmartThings cloud using either Wi-Fi or hard-wired Ethernet.
- Local processing capabilities: Some functionalities can run locally with the hub. Some automations powered by Zigbee or Z-Wave devices will not have to make a round trip from the device, to the hub, up to the cloud, and back. This provides faster response time, improved performance, and reduced latency.
- Communication protocols: Contains a Zigbee radio (2.4 GHz) and a Z-Wave radio (900 MHz).
- Hardware: 528 MHz ARM Cortex-A7, 256 MB DDR RAM, and 4 GB FLASH.
- Range: 50-130 feet, depending on your home's construction.
The SmartThings Hub v2 (2015) is the second generation of the SmartThings' core hardware, released in September 2015. This hub will be square in shape with a circular indentation in the center of the front cover.
Some key features include:
- Local processing capabilities: Some functions can run locally with the Hub v2. Some automations powered by Zigbee or Z-Wave devices will not have to make a round trip from the device, to the hub, up to the cloud, and back. This provides faster response time, improved performance, and reduced latency.
- Battery backup: The Hub v2 comes with 4 AA batteries. This battery backup allows certain automations to continue, even without power, for up to 10 hours.
- USB: To set the groundwork for future expansion, the Hub v2 includes two USB ports.
- Range: 50-130 feet, depending on your home's construction.
The SmartThings Hub v1 (2013) is the first-generation hub. This hub is no longer manufactured or sold in the official SmartThings shop, but it may still be found through other vendors. Please note that this hub does not come with a battery. This SmartThings Hub will be square in shape with a gray outline around the front cover.

- Ports: Micro USB power connection and Ethernet.
- Special feature: Cloud to Cloud video capabilities.
