All About Samsung Screen Mirroring: FAQs

  • 1. What is Screen Mirroring?

Screen mirroring lets you mirror your phone’s screen to a bigger screen, like on a Smart TV. What's showing on your phone will appear exactly the same on the TV, whether it’s an app, a photo or a video. Whenever you do something on your phone, that action will also be shown on the other screen as well.
  • Note: Make sure your TV is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone. Your phone must support a mirroring function, such as Smart View or AirPlay. To check if your phone supports a particular mirroring function, please refer to your phone's user manual. SmartView is not a downloadable app; it is located in the Quick settings panel on your Galaxy phone.

On Galaxy devices, the screen mirroring feature is called Smart View. To display your phone’s content on a TV, you must do the following:
    1. 1. On your phone, open the Quick settings panel by swiping down from the top of the screen.
    2. 2. Tap the Smart View icon.
    3. 3. Tap your TV from the list of Available devices. (Please note: Make sure your TV is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.)
    4. 4. Tap Start now.

    5. Note: If prompted, enter the PIN on your TV or allow access on your TV (A prompt with the device name will appear at the top right of your TV.) to complete the connection.
Your phone’s screen will now appear on the TV.

(Note: You may be prompted to change the aspect ratio on the TV. Tap Change* on your phone if desired.) For iOS devices, the screen mirroring feature is called AirPlay, and it –also mirrors images, videos and other media. Using AirPlay is similar to using Smart View, but there are a few differences:
    1. 1. On your iPhone, open the Control Center by swiping down from the top right of the screen.
    2. 2. Tap the Screen Mirroring icon.
    3. 3. Select your TV from the list of Available devices. (Please note: Make sure your TV is turned on and connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your phone.)
    4. 4. When the pop-up appears, enter the AirPlay Code displayed on the TV screen into your iPhone.
    5. 5. Your phone’s screen will now appear on the TV.
*There will be a Smart View icon that comes up on your device that gives you options to select, one of them being “Change your aspect ratio”, “Pause Smart View” and a toggle for “Multi View” and “Disconnect”.
