In suburban and rural areas, broad coverage is important to connect sparsely located users across vast regions. That’s exactly the type of coverage Samsung’s high-power macro Radios provide. And, in urban areas where 5G is already available with products like Massive MIMO Radios, Samsung’s micro Radios are ideal for densification and to fill coverage holes as they are small and light for easier deployment with relatively lower power to meet the needs of the service area. Samsung’s Radios support all 5G frequencies, including the low-band, mid-band and high-band spectrum. With Samsung’s Radios, mobile operators can fully utilize their frequency bands for different deployment scenarios and/or environments. In addition, Samsung’s Radio portfolio includes multi-band radios to decrease footprint and modernize sites that are filled with legacy equipment.

Samsung values sustainability as a major priority in all parts of the network, but especially in the RAN. As a result, Samsung is continuously investing in creating green products and developing technologies that maximize energy efficiencies. While there are different approaches to sustainability in the RAN, one particular area of focus is how to reduce power consumption during network operation. More specifically, Samsung is taking into account the ever changing traffic patterns of a network and providing the best energy saving solutions for different traffic conditions. When there is little to no traffic, almost all parts of the Radio can be turned off to conserve energy or when there is low to medium traffic, the power amplifier, where most of the power consumption occurs, can dynamically turn on and off during operation. By considering different usage scenarios, Samsung provides the best combination of energy saving features for operators.

Open RAN provides greater flexibility for mobile operators, emphasizing the importance of openness for the RAN. Samsung’s Radios are O-RAN compliant, built to industry specifications and facilitate interoperability to maximize efficiency. Our Radios enable open network configurations and a more dynamic approach to RAN deployment. Samsung is collaborating with global mobile operators and providing O-RAN compliant Radios for use in their commercial networks.
