How can I view my Samsung smartphone screen on my TV?
Watching content on your smartphone has never been better, with infinity displays and crystal clear resolution, but sometimes you need to show off your incredible photos and videos on a bigger screen. Your Samsung smartphone or tablet can connect to a TV through a Wi-Fi or HDMI connection to display your screen.
Please note: the process of sharing your screen to a TV differs depending on the make and model of both your TV and device. The following instructions are for sharing the screen of a Samsung device to any TV.
All recent Samsung smartphones and tablets have an inbuilt feature that allows you to display your screen on TV's with a Wi-Fi connection. This connection is established using Wi-Fi direct technology and requires the feature to be enabled on both your TV and device. Find out more about how to check the internet settings of your TV
Turn on screen mirroring on your TV
The process of turning on screen mirroring will vary depending on the device you are using and the TV you are connecting to. On Samsung TV's you can find the feature in one of three places:
Older models: Press the Source button, then select the Screen Mirroring source option.
Newer models: Select Menu on your remote then navigate to Network, then Screen Mirroring
Most recent models will allow you to save a device list in order to view and manage connected devices within the TV. You can do this in the Settings menu at: General > External Device Manager > Device Connection Manager > Device List
Please note: if you are connecting to a TV that isn't made by Samsung, please refer to the user guide to enable screen mirroring

Your device will now scan for all devices which it can connect to. Make sure that the TV you wish to connect to has screen mirroring enabled.
Quick Connect is a screen mirroring feature on Samsung devices that are using the Android Marshmallow operating system and below. If you're using a more recent version of Android, you can connect using screen mirroring, Smartview or SmartThings instead. Find out how to check what version of Android you're using.
Quick Connect can display content such as images, videos and audio on your TV but only if they are saved to your device. Unlike current screen mirroring technology, Quick Connect will not display everything that you see on your phone screen.
Your TV will need to be connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your device and screen mirroring will need to be enabled. Follow the steps in Connecting using screen mirroring to see how to prepare your TV for connections.
Connecting using Quick Connect
If this is your first time using Quick Connect you may be asked to update it.
Your device and TV will now be connected and content can be played from your device on your TV. To share content, first, find the files you want to view on your device.

If you're having difficulty connecting wirelessly, you can try using a HDMI adapter to connect your device to your TV. Samsung official HDMI adapters are sold separately and offer support for devices with USB-C ports.
If you're using an older device without a USB-C port you may be able to find a compatible third-party adaptor but its performance cannot be guaranteed.
Some apps like Netflix and YouTube have an in built screen casting function that makes it easy to share what you're watching between the big and small screen.
Please note: the location of the cast icon will differ depending on the app you are using and the orientation of your phone
