Can I use Water Dispenser in a Side by Side Refrigerator without a Water Filter?

Models designed for use with the  water filter are shipped with a cap in place to cover the opening and keep it free of debris prior to the installation of the water filter. It is not necessary to have this cap in place for the unit to bypass the filter, nor it is intended to plug the housing to prevent leaks.

The water filter housings are designed as rotary valves that allow the water to bypass the water filter whenever there is no filter or the filter is not in the locked position.

Conclusion: Most Samsung water and ice dispensers will work without a water filter installed.
