What is the use of Ethernet/LAN Connection port in Blu-Ray Players?

The Ethernet Jack on the Blu-Ray player can be used for the below mentioned purposes :
a. To share the data from other netwrok devices like ( PC / Laptop) using All Share features.
b. To upgrade the firmware of the Blu-Ray DVD player for better performance features.
It is located at the rear side of the Blu-Ray Player as shown below :
