Galaxy Watch Water Resistance
The Galaxy Watch/Fit device is water resistant so you can use your device in many water-related situations that you may experience in your daily life. The guidelines below help you get the best out of the water and dust resistance.
What level of water resistance does my Galaxy Watch/Fit have?
- Galaxy Watch3, Watch4, Watch5, Watch Active, Watch Active2 and Galaxy Fit, Fit2 and Fit E models are water and dust resistant according to IP6X dust resistance, IPX8 water resistance and 5ATM water resistance ratings.
- They can be used in situations when exposed to water or sweat during daily life (exposure to sweat generated during exercise, hand washing, rainy, etc.). They can also be used in swimming pools or in shallow water.
- 5ATM water resistance classification was tested by submerging the device in 50 meters of fresh water for 10 minutes, leaving it still, without any movement, to meet the requirements of ISO 22810:2010 certification.
- IPX8 water resistance classification was tested by submerging the device in 1.5m of fresh water for 30 minutes, leaving it still, without any movement, to meet the requirements of IEC 60529 certification.
- IP6X dust resistance classification was tested to meet the requirements of IEC 60529 certification.
- The Galaxy Watch (released in 2018) has a water resistance rating of IP68 and cannot be used in swimming pools or the sea.
- For the Gear fit series, please check the water and dust resistance ratings in the user manual.
What activities (scuba diving, swimming, etc.) can I do while wearing the Galaxy Watch/Fit?
- Galaxy Watch3, Watch4, Watch5, Watch Active, Watch Active2 and Galaxy Fit, Fit2, and Fit E can be used in swimming pools or in shallow waters.
- Do not stay submerged underwater, go snorkeling, diving or scuba diving, or play water sports like water-skiing or surfing, and do not swim in fast-moving water, such as a river, while wearing your device. Also, do not expose it to high-pressure cleaning machines or similar things. This would result in a dramatic rise in water pressure which could cause the water resistance guaranteed by our company to change. Always refer to your user manual for further guidance.
- The Galaxy Watch (released in 2018) has a water resistance rating of IP68 and cannot be used in swimming pools or the sea.
When wearing the Galaxy Watch/Fit, what should I pay attention to?
- Water resistance feature of Galaxy Watch/Fit is not permanent. Be sure to check water resistance regularly at an authorized Samsung Electronics service center to ensure your devices protection.
- Disinfectants or salt in pool water or seawater can affect water resistance performance, so wash with clean water after swimming before drying, then wipe with a soft, clean cloth and dry thoroughly before using it to maintain water resistance.
- Even if you are exposed to liquids other than clean water (coffee, beverages, soapy water, oils, perfumes, sunscreen, hand sanitizer and chemicals such as cosmetics, etc.), wash with clean water and wipe with a soft, clean cloth to dry thoroughly to maintain water resistance.
- Do not dive, scuba dive, snorkel or take part in water sports (water skiing, surfing, etc.) or swim in high-flow valleys, etc. while wearing your device.
- Do not use your device with pressure washers, etc, as a rapid increase in water pressure can exceed the water resistance guaranteed by Samsung.
- If your device is subjected to external impact or damage, its water or dust resistance performance may be reduced.
- Do not disassemble your device as the water or dust resistance or may be impaired.
- Drying your device using heating devices such as hair dryers, or in environments such as saunas and steam rooms with sudden or extreme changes in temperature and water temperature can compromise the effectiveness of water resistance.
- Do not poke the hole outside the watch/fit with a pointed object. Internal components may be damaged, or the water resistance affected.
- Leather bands or hybrid bands are not water resistant. Do not swim or shower while wearing leather bands or hybrid bands.
