Last Update date : Nov 11. 2023

Galaxy users will notice some subtle changes with the release of Galaxy One UI 6 (Android Version 14). For example, the names displayed with a number of Samsung app icons have been simplified, making it easier for users to recognize apps at a glance.

Simplified labels

Simplifying app labels for Galaxy One UI 6 (Android Version 14) includes limiting app names to one line on Galaxy home screens by removing the words “Samsung'' and "Galaxy" from the displayed names of apps. This change creates a cleaner, more organized appearance, which in turn helps users find their favorites more easily.

Note: The actual name of the app has not changed, only the way it appears on both the home screen and app screen.

Note: You may also see changes to the internal storage display in OneUI 6.0.

Before OneUI 6.0, the storage capacity of Galaxy series was calculated using a binary system (1 GB = 1024*1024*1024 bytes) in the My Files app.

Now, to avoid confusion in use, and in response to requests from our customers, the My Files app has been updated to display the actual space in base 10 notation (1 GB = 1000*1000*1000*1000 bytes).

However, please note that for some apps that use binary notation, there may be a difference in the capacity display within the My Files app that uses base 10 notation.

Note: Apps available in different countries may vary.
