Galaxy eSIM and supported network carriers

Galaxy eSIM (embedded SIM) is a digital SIM that allows you to use the mobile data without a physical SIM card (Mini SIM, Micro SIM, Nano SIM, etc.).

Please note: eSIM service may vary depending on the country and carrier.

To add an eSIM to your smartphone, you have three options: eSIM Simple Setup, scanning a QR code, or manually entering the information.

eSIM Simple Setup

When you sign up for a mobile plan with one of the network carriers below, the network carrier can send your new eSIM to your Samsung Galaxy device without the need for a complicated setup process.

Step 1. Go to “Settings” > “Connections” > “SIM manager”.

Step 2. Tap “Add eSIM” and your mobile plan will be automatically downloaded and activated on your eSIM.

Network Carriers that may allow eSIM Simple Setup

Asia-Pacific and Australia

  • India: Reliance JIO
  • Japan: KDDI, NTT Docomo
  • Korea: KT, LGU+, SKT
  • New Zealand: Spark
  • Thailand: dtac, TrueMoveH

 

Europe

  • Czechia: Vodafone
  • Denmark: Telia
  • Finland: Telia

Scan a QR code

You will need to contact your network carrier to receive a QR code.

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager

  2. Tap Add eSIM then tap Scan QR code

  3. Scan the QR code from Network Carrier

  4. Your eSIM will be automatically downloaded and activated on your Samsung Galaxy device

 

Enter Activation Code manually

Some network carrier that support eSIM provide a code to manually add an eSIM.

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager

  2. Tap Add eSIM, tap Scan QR code > Tap Enter activation code

  3. Enter the activation code provided by your network carrier

  4. Your eSIM will be automatically downloaded and activated on your Samsung Galaxy device

eSIM Instant Transfer

An eSIM Instant Transfer is the process of moving your SIM profile and phone number from the old Samsung Galaxy device to your new Samsung Galaxy device easily without contacting your network carrier.

Note: Your new device must be unlocked for the transfer to be successful. If you need assistance, please contact your network carrier.

  1. On your new device, Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager > Add eSIM

  2. On your new device, tap Transfer SIM from another device

  3. On your old device, you will see a popup for SIM transfer. Tap Transfer

  4. On your old device, enter that 6-digit verification code that you see on your new device

  5. On your new Galaxy device, select a phone number from the list provided by your old Galaxy device, then tap Transfer

  6. On your old device, tap Transfer

  7. Selected number is transferred to your new Galaxy device from your old device

  8. On your old device, tap Done

  9. The eSIM that is for the selected number will be automatically downloaded and activated on your new Samsung Galaxy device

To transfer eSIM from an iOS device

If you want to transfer eSIM from iOS device, you need to contact your network carrier to help move your eSIM to a new device.

Please note: The availability of this feature will depend on your mobile provider. For more information, consult with your mobile provider.

  1. Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager

  2. Tap the SIM card that you want to convert to an eSIM

  3. Tap Convert to eSIM

  4. In the popup, tap Convert eSIM

  5. Your eSIM is now active

  • Depending on the country of origin, eSIM may not be supported even if your device is listed above. Please check if your device supports this feature in your location.
  • Wi-Fi only tablet models do not support eSIM functionality.
