The "unknown tag" message my pop up on your mobile's screen if you have the NFC feature enabled on your device and you accidentally come into contact with a NFC compatable media, or credit/debit cards.

In these cases, we recomment temporarily disabling the NFC feature of the mobile device.

Note: This will also remove any "random" beeping noises your device may be making due to being in contact with a credit/debit cards or an NFC compatable media.

To disable (or enable) NFC, simply follow these steps:
(Steps shown are for Android OS version 9.0)

  • Swipe down the home screen with two fingers displaying the long notification pannel.
  • Swipe to find the NFC icon and turn this off. (Blue icon = Enabled | Grey icon = Disabled)

If you hold down on the NFC icon you will be taken into your settings where you are able to customise this feature.

The NFC feature will then be turned Off and the mobile should stop emitting audio notification whenever it comes into contact with NFC compatible media.
