Unlocking Screen with Talk Back enabled

TalkBack (also known as Voice Assistant) is an Accessibility Feature in Samsung Smartphones that helps blind and low-vision users interact with their devices more easily. This is done by adding spoken, audible, and vibration feedback to the device, providing examples for what you touch, select and activate.

With having the TalkBack/Voice Assistant feature enabled, you will need to swipe with two fingers to unlock the screen instead of using one finger.

If you have a password lock on your device, you will need to tap once on the character for the blue box to appear, then double tap on the character to select this. 

1 Go to Settings
2 Select Accessibility
3 Select Screen Reader
4 Turn on voice assistant
5 A pop-up message will appear which provides the usage of the service. Tap Ok if you agree and wish to continue.
6 Another popup message will appear notifying you of the features and/or functions which may not be used while Voice Assistant is enabled, tap Ok if you agree

To deactivate Voice Assistant go to back into your settings (this time you will need to double tap to choose each selection). Double tap the slider to deactivate the service. A prompt will appear confirming deactivation of this service, tap Ok to confirm.

4 Select TalkBack
5 Turn on TalkBack
6 A pop-up message will appear which provides the usage bulletin of the service. Tap Ok if you agree and wish to continue.
7 Another popup message will appear notifying you of the features and/or functions which may not be used while TalkBack is enabled, tap Ok to confirm.

To deactivate TalkBack, go to back into your settings (this time you will need to double tap to choose each selection) Double tap the slider to deactivate the service. A prompt will appear confirming deactivation of service, tap Ok.

Once Talkback/Voice Assistant has been activated. Every time you tap on a setting or application an assistive voice prompt will be heard advising you about the selected item.

 

Note: To select any of options while Talkback/Voice Assistant is activated, double tap the option to select.
