Live Focus and Portrait mode on Galaxy S21
The Live Focus feature on previous Galaxy devices has been replaced with Portrait mode on S21 devices. Both versions are similar, the only difference is that it uses new effects and filters to take your photos to the next level. Portrait mode can be used with videos as well.
The new Portrait mode (S21 series)
Step 1. On the shooting modes list, tap More > Portrait or Portrait video.
Step 2. Tap and select a background effect you want. To adjust the intensity of the background effect, drag the adjustment bar.
Step 3. When Ready appears on the preview screen, tap on the capture button to take a picture or tap to record a video.
Note:
- Device screenshots and menus may vary depending on the device model and software version.
- Studio effect is applied only when the face of a person is recognized.
The camera allows you to capture pictures or videos where the background is blurred and the subject stands out clearly. You can also apply a background effect and edit it after taking a picture. The available options may vary depending on the shooting mode.
Select a background effect (Blur, Natural lighting, Mono lightning, Backdrop, Color point) on the preview screen and take a photo that stands out the subject.
- Use this feature in a place that has sufficient light.
- The background blur may not be applied properly in the following conditions:
- The device or the subject is moving.
- The subject is thin or transparent.
- The subject has a similar color or pattern to the background.
- The subject or background is plain.
