Our steps towards a better future
We consider energy efficiency and resource circularity for our products throughout their entire life cycles. This involves implementing various measures during the stages of sourcing, production, distribution, use, and recycling to reduce our impact on the environment.
Our efforts on energy
We have developed various technologies to reduce energy usage through
energy-efficient appliances. With our solutions, you can make an impact on both your energy bills and the environment.
SmartThings Energy
in your life
Manage your energy with SmartThings Energy1. Effortlessly manage your energy usage, set energy goals, and receive alerts when you exceed energy usage.
Automatically adjust the
brightness of your TV
The 2025 TV models2 feature intelligent brightness sensing that helps save energy3 with SmartThings AI Energy Mode.
Digital signage with
ultra-low power consumption
With Samsung Color E-Paper, static images can be displayed at
zero watts*, helping reduce unnecessary energy use without
compromising reliability.
*Activities related to content refresh, content changes, or device monitoring and control will require additional power. Content refresh is essential and automatically performed when the power cable or battery is connected. Screen flickering during the refresh or image change is normal due to the characteristics of EPD technology. Images simulated for illustrative purposes only.
Our efforts on resource
We take into account resource-saving to ensure that materials are reused, and waste is reduced. We strive to make a difference for the environment through small steps.
Repurposing discarded items into new products
Samsung has developed innovative technologies that recycle discarded resources such as fishing nets and waste plastics into product materials, applying them to a variety of products including the
Galaxy smartphones (S25 Ultra, Z Fold7, Z Flip7)4, Tab S11 Ultra5, Watch Ultra6, and the SolarCell7 remote.
Reducing microplastic emissions from laundry
You can reduce microplastic emissions from your laundry with our washing machine’s Less Microfiber™ Cycle, which effectively reduces microplastic shedding by 54%8 and the Less Microfiber™ Filter which captures approximately 89-98% of microplastics released when washing.9
Enhancing circularity through Circular Battery Supply Chain
Through our Circular Battery Supply Chain, Galaxy S25 uses recycled cobalt extracted from previously used Galaxy smartphones and batteries discarded from the manufacturing process.
Re-creation, not disposal
Our process brings new life into old materials, transforming them into valuable resources through e-waste recycling.
Regional Recycling Programmes
We take back and recycle e-waste in collaboration with local recycling schemes and organisations.
Environment Data

- 1 To use SmartThings, download the app from the Galaxy Store, Google Play Store, or Apple App Store. The supported OS specification, required storage space, and other usage environment for the SmartThings app can be found on the app download page in each app store. SmartThings has compatibility constraints, and the compatible environment may be updated periodically. Supported OS specifications and app screen configuration may change with app updates. The availability of technology, functions, features, and services may vary by country, service provider, network environment, or product, and may change without notice. All devices must be connected to Wi-Fi or other wireless network, and registered with a single Samsung Account. SmartThings features and specifications may vary depending on the product and region/country.
- 2 AI Energy Mode is applied to U7000F and higher models, as well as LS03F (The Frame), H5000F (HD TV), F6000F (FHD TV), released in 2025. Learn more at samsung.com.
- 3 Energy saving rate may vary according to regions, models, sizes, viewing conditions or types of content. Products shipped in Eco Mode have some AI Energy Mode functions enabled by default, so energy saving level by turning on AI Energy Mode may appear lower than actual. AI Energy Mode does not work with Game Mode. Energy savings are based on internal test results and may vary depending on content being displayed and surrounding brightness levels.
- 4 Galaxy S25 Series contains recycled plastic in various components, such as 20% in the Top & Bottom Speaker Module (Upper and Lower) and 10% in the Front Case. Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 contain 10% recycled plastic in the Case Front and Volume Key.
- 5 Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra incorporates recycled plastic in various components, such as 20% in Case Bracket Pogo.
- 6 Galaxy Watch Ultra contains recycled plastic in various components, such as 20% in the Bracket Motor and the Cap HRM Connector Cap.
- 7 Bracket of SolarCell Remote for 2025 models of The Frame, The Premiere and some Smart Monitors (M80F, M70F) includes a minimum of 20% recycled materials from discarded fishing nets. Measured based on weight.
- 8 Tested with 2kg load of 100% polyester hoodies, comparing Synthetics cycle on Samsung Conventional model WW4000T and the Less Microfiber™ Cycle on WW9000B. The results may be different depending on the clothes and environment. Tested at the Ocean Wise Plastics Lab.
- 9 Captures approximately 89-98%; laboratory tested using 2kg synthetic fabric load in the WW90T734DWH, WF24A9500KW, washing machine.
