Why are my close-up photos blurry on the Galaxy S23/S23+

When you take a close-up photo of an object using the camera on your Galaxy S23/S23+, you may notice that the area surrounding the object looks blurry. This is because the rear wide-angle camera on the S23/S23+ has a bright aperture, which allows you to take bright photos even in dark conditions. However, this brighter aperture means that the more noticeable selective focus effect may make the background of photos look blurry.

A future software update will enhance user experience and optimise camera usability.

In the meantime, if the area around the object you’re photographing in close-up on your S23/S23+ looks blurred, you can try the following steps:

When you take a close-up photo with your Galaxy S23 Ultra, the camera automatically switches to wide-angle camera, activating the Focus enhancer feature to prevent any blurring. However, Focus enhancer is not supported in High Resolution mode, so the area around the object you’re photographing may look blurry.
