Prolong your tech (and our planet)
with repair
Help create a more sustainable solution with repair options that work for you.
You’ve got a broken phone screen. We’ve all been there, and it never happens at a convenient moment. Suddenly, you’re faced with a choice. Do I recycle this phone, or do I get it repaired?
Like so many of you, Samsung cares deeply about the planet and is constantly working to make a difference and create a more sustainable future. Our approach to the circular economy includes these key sustainability goals:
• Incorporating recycled material in all new mobile products by 2025
• Eliminating all plastics in mobile packaging by 2025
• Achieving zero waste to landfill by 2025
While we’re all working to do our part to create a better future, repairing devices has proven to have a significant impact on the environment. According to the Waste Reduction Model from the Environmental Protection Agency, “Recycling is important to limiting waste and supporting a circular economy, but repair can be up to 28 times more beneficial¹ in terms of reducing lifecycle greenhouse gas emissions for mobile products, compared to recycling alone.” So by practicing both recycling and repair, together we can make a meaningful difference.
For Andrew Nichols, a pre-sales engineer at Samsung, repairing broken tech is a way of life as he works toward zero waste. He practices repair at work, with his family and across his community. Inspired by Samsung’s approach to sustainability, he says he admires how the company takes part in the circular economy and tries to find ways to prolong devices by offering quick and easy repair options. “Samsung has fantastic and flexible repair options for those who don’t want to do it themselves, which means repair is available to anyone.”
Andrew loves tackling repair projects with his son while teaching him STEM skills and the science behind the individual phone parts. This also allows him to pass on repair skills to the next generation, which is vital when it comes to preserving our environment. “By encouraging repair to the next generation, we can help protect the planet and build lifelong skills,” Andrew says.
So how do you get involved and make the shift to repair? Here are four steps to help you find the repair option that works best for you.
Is your device under warranty? Choose an ASP
First things first: check the warranty on your device. If it’s covered, you can get it repaired by a Samsung-certified technician at an approved service provider (ASP), including 250 Best Buy–authorized service centers (ASC) using genuine Samsung parts.
Here’s how to check your warranty status:
1. Login here.
2. Determine if your device is eligible.
3. Select the issue with your device.
4. Put in your Zip Code, then choose “Walk In.”
5. Find an ASP store near you.
6. Schedule an in-person, same-day appointment by you (if available).
There’s also the option for limited models via uBreakiFix to use Samsung’s We Come to You Service. You can also try Samsung Care Pros Mail-In Service and receive an empty eco-conscious box to package your phone and drop off at a local UPS store, or schedule an at-home pickup for free.
When you make the choice to repair with an ASP, you’re using safe, secure and functional services and helping to promote a circular economy as we work together to achieve zero waste to landfill by 2025.
Is your device out of warranty? Choose an ISP
If your device has a cracked screen or other issue and is out of warranty, find a repair center or independent service provider (ISP) nearby and schedule a same-day fix if available.
Samsung’s ISP network provides extensive out-of-warranty services that may offer same-day service, trained technicians and Samsung genuine parts, plus Samsung customers have access to over  11,000 Samsung Mobile–certified repair technicians in the U.S.
Need an ISP near your home? Find one here. Once you arrive, walk in with your device, walk out and get back to whatever you were doing before you dropped your phone. Now you’ve prolonged your device, and helped the planet.
