All applications must be submitted by someone 21 years or older, who is employed by the school.

No, class size is not a factor. However, we have seen more success with groups that involve more than one student.

How you divide your classes is entirely up to you. In the past, group sizes have ranged between 4-60 students. You should do what works best for your teaching style and the dynamic of your class. However, participating students must be in 6th-12th grade.

Yes, both the Pitch Event and Final Event announcing National Winners will be in person.

From each National Finalist School, there is a total of 4 guests that can come to the final events. At least 1 teacher/chaperone and at least 2 students. State and federal COVID-19 protocol and guidelines will be followed and enforced at all in-person events.

State Winners will each win a $12,000 prize package, National Finalists will each win a $50,000 prize package, and National Winners will each win a $100,000 prize package. One Community Choice winner and one Employee Choice winner will each win an additional $10,000 prize. They will be chosen from the 10 National Finalists. All prize packages except for the State Winner prize packages are fulfilled through DonorsChoose.org, where teachers will be able to select at least 75% Samsung technology or products, and the remainder in class resources, equipment, or materials for your school.

An additional $25,000 Sustainability Innovation Award prize package will be awarded to a State Winner who is chosen as the Sustainability Innovation Award winner.
