How to install your Bespoke AI Laundry Hub

Installation precautions

Before you begin installing your Laundry Hub, it’s a good idea to review the following safety tips and precautions. For more information, please consult your user manual.

  • We recommend asking a friend to help when unpacking the Laundry Hub and its contents.
  • Do not lay the Laundry Hub on the floor; always keep it in an upright position.
  • All packaging materials should be removed before installation.
  • The hub should be installed on a solid, flat floor and away from direct sunlight and heat sources.

Prepare your laundry room

You’ll want to prepare your laundry room, closet, utility room, or wherever your Laundry Hub will be located, so it’s ready to go. Keep the following in mind when preparing your desired space:

  • Measure the space to make sure your Laundry Hub fits and is not blocking something else, such as a door.
  • A firm, level surface without carpeting or slippery flooring is recommended. The Laundry Hub should not be able to slide around on the floor. This may cause unbalanced load errors.
  • The ambient temperature should be higher than freezing (32 degrees).
  • Adequate space for ventilation, wiring, water supply hoses, and the drain hose is required, as well as space for the door to open freely.
  • A drip pan will be required if your Laundry Hub will not be installed on the ground floor of your home. Drip pans can be found on Amazon, or at local home improvement and hardware stores.

2. Connect the water supply hoses

New water supply hoses should be used when installing your Laundry Hub. Also ensure that rubber gaskets are inside the couplings on both ends of the hoses. Old hoses, or hoses without gaskets may leak.

  1. Attach the water hoses to the hot and cold water taps, and then tighten the hose fittings until they are tight. You can use pliers to tighten the fittings an additional two-thirds of a turn.
  2. Pull the hoses to make sure they are firmly connected.
  3. Next, place the ends of the hoses into a bucket, and then open the water taps for 10-15 seconds. This will remove impurities from the water supply. When you're finished, close the taps.
  4. Attach the hoses to the hot and cold water inlets on the rear of the Laundry Hub. Make sure you are connecting the appropriate hoses to the correct inlet.
  5. Hand tighten the hose fittings until they are tight. You can use pliers to tighten the fittings an additional two-thirds of a turn.
  6. Open the hot and cold taps, and then check for leaks.

3. Position the drain hose

An illustration of the hot and cold water inlets next to the drain hose bending downwards.

Next up is the drain hose installation, which must be installed properly to prevent water leaks. There are two ways to install and position the drain hose.

  • In a standpipe, laundry tub, or utility sink: The standpipe, tub, or sink must be no shorter than 18 inches and no higher than 96 inches from the floor. To keep the drain hose's spout bent, use the supplied plastic hose guide. You can use zip ties to secure the drain hose without kinking the hose.
  • Over the edge of a wash basin: The drain hose must be placed at a height between 24 inches and 35 inches from the floor. To keep the drain hose's spout bent, use the supplied plastic hose guide. Secure the guide to the wall using a hook to ensure stable drainage.

When installing the drain hose, please keep the following in mind:

  • If using a standpipe, insert the drain hose at least 6 inches but no more than 8 inches into the standpipe. Make sure the connection between the drain hose and the standpipe is NOT airtight.
  • The drain hose can be installed up to 96 inches, but the draining capability can be reduced at this height. It can also cause odors in the washer because water may remain in the drain system.
  • If the drain hose is installed below 39 inches, water may drain into the washer's cycles due to a siphoning effect. This causes the washing machine to display the 4C error code.

4. Level the hub

An illustration of a wrench turning the locking nut on a leveling feet clockwise.

Once the Laundry Hub is in your desired position, you can level it.

  1. Place both hands on either side of the hub, and then try to gently rock it back and forth. If the hub rocks in any direction, turn the leveling feet clockwise to lower it or counterclockwise to raise it. You can use the supplied wrench to adjust the leveling feet.
  2. Once the hub is leveled, tighten the locking nut on each leg until they are flush against the bottom of the hub. This will lock each leg at its current setting and maximize the length of time before it needs to be leveled again. When you're done, make sure all feet are making contact with the floor.
  3. If desired, run the hub with a small load of laundry to determine if it's level. If the hub rocks, repeat the above steps.

5. Connect to power

An illustration of a dryer electrical cord on the back of a dryer.

The next step is to connect the gas line (for gas models) or the electrical wiring (for electric models). Please refer to your user manual if needed.

Gas models

  1. Remove the protective cap from the gas pipe, and then apply an LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas) safe compound or 1.5 wraps of Teflon tape to all threaded connections.
  2. Connect the gas supply to the hub. An additional fitting is required to connect the 1.9cm female thread end of a flexible connector to the 1cm male threaded end on the hub. Tighten the fittings.
  3. Turn on the gas supply, and check for any leaks using a soap solution. If there is a leak, tighten the connection and repeat the above steps. Do not use an open flame to check for gas leaks.

Electric models

  1. Loosen the screws from the central terminal block.
  2. Connect the neutral wire (white or center wire) of the power cable to the center, silver-colored terminal screw of the terminal block. Tighten the screws.
  3. Connect the other wires to the outer terminal block screws. Tighten the screws.
  4. Tighten the strain relief screws.
  5. Insert the terminal block cover into the rear panel of the hub. Then, secure the cover with a hold-down screw.

After completing all the above installation steps, you should calibrate the Laundry Hub and then run a test cycle to ensure everything is working properly.

  1. Make sure the Laundry Hub is connected to a power source and the drum is empty.
  2. Touch and hold Start/Pause to begin the calibration process.

    Note:
The calibration process will run using the washer only.
  3. When the process is complete, the hub will automatically turn off and on. If you’d like to run another calibration process, tap Options, then rotate the dial to Calibration, and then tap OK.
  4. Next, make sure the hub is turned on, and then tap WASHER or DRYER.
  5. Turn the Navigation dial to select a cycle. If desired, you can adjust the cycle options as well.
  6. Touch and hold Start/Pause to begin, and allow the Laundry Hub to complete the cycle.

    Note:
On the control panel, the upper Start/Pause corresponds to the dryer, and the lower Start/Pause corresponds to the washer.
