Use your Family Hub refrigerator with iOS devices
Connect your Family Hub fridge to SmartThings
You can connect your Family Hub fridge to your iOS device using the SmartThings app. SmartThings will let you remotely monitor and control your fridge.
- Navigate to and open the SmartThings app, then tap the Devices tab, and then tap Add (the plus sign).
- Tap Add under Samsung devices, and then tap Refrigerator.
- You’ll be prompted to scan the QR code on the inside of the fridge door. Position your device to scan the code and then follow the prompts to connect your fridge to SmartThings.
- You can also tap Add without QR code, then tap Samsung, and then tap Family Hub.
- On the Family Hub panel, open Settings, then tap Connections, and then tap Easy Connection. Tap Connect, and then follow the on-screen instructions to connect your fridge to SmartThings.
- Your Family Hub will now be available in SmartThings. To find it, tap the Devices tab, and then navigate to the location with your fridge. Tap the Family Hub’s card to view its status and options, such as the fridge and freezer temperatures and View Inside image.
- To adjust the fridge’s settings, tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then select from the following:
- Edit device: Change the fridge’s Location, Room, and Device name.
- Remove device: Remove the fridge from SmartThings.
- Settings: Update the Wi-Fi network.
- Energy Management: View the fridge’s energy consumption.
- Information: View the fridge’s model name, serial number, controller version, firmware version, and Open Source License.
Upload pictures and videos to your Family Hub fridge
You can upload pictures and videos from your iOS device to your Family Hub fridge, and then add them to the panel’s Home screen.
- Navigate to and open the SmartThings app, then tap the Devices tab, and then select the Family Hub’s card. Swipe to and tap Upload pictures and videos.
- Select Picture or Video, and then select your desired file or files. When you're finished, tap OK.
- Tap Upload when prompted.
- A Gallery notification will appear on the Family Hub panel; tap View to view the picture or video. You can also swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Notification panel, and then select the Gallery notification.
- Select Add to Home to add the picture or video to the Home screen. You can drag and drop it to reposition it.
Note: You can also select Rotate, Play Slideshow, or Details.
