Properly wear and clean your Samsung smart watch
Properly wear and clean your Samsung smart watch
Clean your watch
Clean your wrist and the watch strap or band.
- Clean your wrist and the watch strap or band after exercising or sweating. Clean it with a soft, lint-free cloth, and dry it thoroughly.
- Make sure that the Galaxy Watch/Fit is not exposed to dust, sweat, ink, oil, or any chemical products, such as cosmetics, sunscreen, antibacterial spray, hand cleaner, detergent, or insecticides.
- If the watch gets stained or contains any foreign materials, wipe it with a moistened, soft bristle toothbrush.
- Clean the rubber watchband with clean water and dry thoroughly.
- Clean a leather band with a soft, lint-free cloth.
Avoid certain cleaning substances and products.
- Do not use soap, cleaning agents, abrasive materials, or compressed air to clean your watch.
- Skin irritation may be caused by soap, detergent, hand sanitizer, or cleaning agents left on your watch.
- Do not clean the watch using ultrasonic waves or external heat sources.
Keep the watch dry
To help it run its best and also prevent skin irritation, you'll need to keep your watch nice and dry. Whenever it does get wet, dry it thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth. You should also dry the charging surface on the back side of your watch before attaching it to a charger or wearing it.
Please also keep in mind:
- Do not expose your watch to water at high pressure.
- Do not expose the straps to very wet conditions as this can cause skin irritation. Dry the straps before wearing the smart watch.
- The touchscreen and other features may not work properly if your watch is used in water or in other liquids.
- If your watch is exposed to any liquid other than fresh water (like salt water), rinse it with fresh water immediately and dry it thoroughly with a clean, soft cloth.
- Do not expose your watch to ionized water.
- Your watch is not impervious to water damage in any situation.
- Failure to rinse your watch in fresh water and dry it as instructed may cause it to suffer from operability, cosmetic, and charging issues. For example, it may charge more slowly or overheat.
Wear your watch properly
When you want to wear your Samsung smart watch, there's a proper way to put it on, so it will be nice and snug with no discomfort.
First, center the watch on top of your wrist and slide the end of the strap or band through the loop. Then, fit the strap or band to your wrist and firmly insert the pin into the adjustment hole. Ensure the pin is fully inserted into the hole. But make sure not to overtighten the strap or band.
Take necessary precautions if your skin is hypersensitive or if you have an allergy to any materials found in the Galaxy smart watch.
Please also be aware of the following:
- Do not bend the strap or band excessively. Doing so may damage your watch.
- Do not brace your watch against your body or a table.

Materials which come into contact with skin
The Galaxy smart watches do not contain internationally restricted materials or any harmful materials that directly come into contact with the skin. We also verified compliance with international environmental regulations through authorized international test institutions for certain materials, such as the fiber, leather, plastic, and metal, which have a high possibility of contacting the skin.
When using materials not explicitly covered by international standards, we conduct our own internal wearing tests, noxious material tests, and skin toxicity tests for all materials that come into contact with skin in cooperation with domestic and external certificate authorities.
A detailed list of materials used in the manufacture of the Galaxy smart watch that may come into contact with skin is available for download.
Guidance for users sensitive to certain materials
Refer to the information about the materials that the Galaxy smart watch includes if your skin is hypersensitive or if you have a known allergy to any listed materials. Remove your Galaxy smart watch from your wrist and consult a dermatologist if the skin where you wear the Galaxy smart watch reddens or feels irritated.
Nickel
The Galaxy mart watch's main body and band buckles include stainless steel. Stainless steel is a non-corrosive metal alloy that typically consists of iron (Fe), nickel (Ni), and chrome (Cr). Although it is widely used for everyday products, some people have an allergy to some of the materials included in it, such as nickel.
Samsung Electronics manages this by making the products with a smaller amount of nickel, which is below the point limited by the Europe REACH regulation. Also, we have found that users are barely exposed to any nickel based on analysis from a third party institution.
While it is unlikely that an issue related to nickel will occur, if you are allergic to nickel, be careful to prevent skin problems.
Acrylate
The Galaxy smart watch’s main body and band include acrylate.
Acrylate (Methacrylic acid) is commonly included in consumer goods that are attached to the skin, such as plaster gauze. If you are sensitive to this material, be careful to avoid causing a hypersensitive skin reaction when using your Galaxy Watch or Fit for a long period; again, consult your dermatologist if irritation occurs.
