Samsung refrigerator has no power
Samsung refrigerator has no power
See if the circuit breaker has been tripped.
Check the circuit breakers to see if any have been tripped. If tripped, reset the breaker.
If the refrigerator keeps tripping the circuit, unplug the refrigerator from the current outlet and plug it into another outlet. If necessary, run an extension cord to another room because another outlet in the same room may be on the same circuit.
- If the fridge does not trip the circuit breaker when on a different circuit, service is not required. Contact an electrician for help with the tripping circuit.
- If the issue continues even on another circuit, visit our Support Center to request service.
Check the power outlet.
- Unplug the refrigerator.
- Connect something else to the same outlet and see if it receives power. If it does not, contact an electrician for help with the outlet, and use a different outlet for the fridge.
- Verify that the outlet is grounded and is 120V, 60 Hz. If the outlet does not meet these requirements, contact an electrician.
- Check to see if the outlet is GFCI protected. If it's tripped, reset the GFCI plug. If the refrigerator continues to trip the GFCI outlet, contact an electrician to review the GFCI outlet's specifications, or use a different, non-GFCI outlet.
Not all GFCI outlets are the same
Our refrigerators are in full compliance of UL standards. GFCI outlet standards, however, can vary. In order to properly use a GFCI outlet with a refrigerator, it needs to be rated for major appliance use.
Inspect the power cord.
Inspect the power cord for any damage. If it's damaged, do not plug it back in, and visit our Support Center to request service.
Plug the fridge back in, and request service if it still doesn't turn on.
If the fridge works on any outlet, then contact an electrician for help on the outlets it doesn't work on.
If the fridge still will not power on no matter which outlet you use, visit our Support Center to request service.
