Common error messages in Samsung DeX

Since not all apps are compatible with DeX, you may occasionally encounter issues like error messages. Samsung is currently communicating with app developers to increase different apps' compatibility with Samsung DeX.

Certain apps will not run in Samsung DeX. This includes apps that cause force stops and third-party launchers.

App can't run in DeX app designed for touch screens

This message appears when an app has been programmed to allow only touch controls or multi-touch controls. Although we are encouraging app developers to include keyboard and mouse input, this input might not be available immediately.

Undock the phone and switch to phone mode or Screen Mirroring mode to use the touchscreen control.

Some functions may not be supported in DeX

This message appears when an app doesn't support a multi-window display. The app developer would need to add support for multi-window display for it to function properly in Samsung DeX. We are currently working with app developers to ensure that more apps can be optimized for Samsung DeX in the future.

App can't run in DeX try running in phone or tablet mode

This message appears when an app can't be run on Samsung DeX. The app developer would need to add support for Samsung DeX to prevent force stops and errors.

App can't run in DeX, it's designed for phone or tablet home screens

This message appears when a third-party launcher is being launched. Third-party launchers are not compatible with Samsung DeX.

App closed when switching to DeX

This message appears when switching to Samsung DeX mode. Third-party apps may close when you switch. However, preloaded apps will continue to run in the background.

The purpose of the message is to remind you to save your work prior to switching.

Monitor can't display Samsung DeX correctly

This message appears when the display does not support full HD. This may cause Samsung DeX to display incorrectly. For an optimal experience, use a Full HD display with HDMI capabilities.

Note: Samsung DeX supports Full HD (1920x1080) HDMI supported display (TV or monitor).

Memory low, save your files

This message appears when the phone has less than 400MB of free RAM remaining or has reached the set limit for free RAM.

From the DeX Home screen, select Settings, select Device care, and then select Memory. Select Clean now to stop background apps from running.

Note: Save files and close any apps not currently in use to free up the device's RAM.
