With Samsung Pay, you can pay with confidence. Every transaction requires your fingerprint or PIN to authenticate. Using our Consumer Device Cardholder Verification Method (CDCVM) solution, this may also mean you no longer have to input your PIN on the Point of Sales terminal for high value transactions.

Your payment card details are not stored on your phone. Plus, each transaction should be protected by your bank’s fraud policy*.

Samsung Pay Transit

Set up your default transport card on Samsung Pay and use your Samsung device to pay for travel for Transport for NSW services including Buses, Trains, Ferries and Light Rail. You will receive the same travel benefits of an Adult Opal card.

Once you’re set up, simply place the back of your phone against the card reader, with the rear camera positioned in the middle of the reader, to tap on or off. No need to wake or unlock your phone.

What is Samsung Pay?

Samsung Pay is a secure and easy-to-use mobile payment service which is designed to make purchases almost everywhere.5

It enables the use of credit cards from participating financial institutions and loyalty cards from participating merchants. To help make mobile payments and scanning loyalty cards more accessible to merchants and customers, Samsung has included Near Field Communication (NFC)*, Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST), and MoBeam technologies.

Samsung Pay is available on Australian Samsung Smartphones only. Samsung devices from other countries may not support Samsung Pay in Australia.

What are Samsung Pay's main features?

Samsung Pay enables users to make in-store contactless payments using a compatible Samsung device. Samsung Pay’s main feature is its NFC payments capability.

How does Samsung Pay work?

Samsung Pay uses Near Field Communication (NFC) to make contactless mobile payments. NFC helps enable compatible Samsung devices* to make secure transactions.

Can I use Samsung Pay in foreign countries?

Due to Samsung's advance proprietary technology Magnetic Secure Transaction (MST), Samsung Pay can be used almost everywhere around the globe. Please check your card issuer’s policies for transactions in foreign countries. If you can use your physical card in the country you are travelling to, you should be able to use Samsung Pay to make a payment.

Why should I use Samsung Pay instead of my plastic cards?

Samsung Pay offers a simple and convenient payment experience that doesn’t require searching through your wallet or purse. Additionally, Samsung Pay adds a level of security to your payment information that physical cards don’t have. Your credit or debit card number will never be saved on your device. When you make a payment with Samsung Pay, only a token and a cryptogram that is only valid for that particular payment are transmitted to the card reader.

Which payment cards can I register to Samsung Pay?

11Samsung Pay on Gear needs to be authenticated each time the Gear smartwatch is put on and requires a periodic connection to a compatible smartphone with internet access and Samsung Pay installed. Please ask your bank how frequently your Samsung Gear smartwatch needs to be connected to your compatible smartphone for periodic replenishing of encryption tokens and transaction history sync. Samsung Pay for Gear only available on NFC terminals with Gear S2 and NFC and MST terminals with Gear S3 and is currently compatible with Citi credit cards only.
