How do you take good pictures at night?

Plus, there’s no need to edit your images because this camera mode does the hard work for you. Ready to take your Nightography to the next level? Check out our tips below for creating insta-worthy low light shots and remember to #withGalaxy to share your awesome images on socials.
1. Invest in some gear for next level Nightography
Steadiness is crucial when it comes to nightography as the camera needs time to take in as much light as possible. Any small movement can lead to blurry photos so if you're looking for sharp, vivid images investing in a simple tripod can really help to stabilise your phone and minimise blurring. It’s also recommended to use a remote shutter like the Galaxy S Pen Pro* to avoid shaking the camera when tapping the capture button.
When it comes to the phone with the most advanced integrated S Pen, look no further than the Galaxy S23 Ultra. Simply place your smartphone where you want and use the discreet S Pen button to activate the camera shutter from afar!
Or why not check out the Galaxy Z Fold4 or Z Flip4 the latest Samsung foldable phones that let you capture hands-free solo or group shots without the need for extra equipment With Flex Mode.
*Please note: the S Pen Pro is compatible with Samsung Galaxy smartphones, tablets and PCs that support S Pen and run Android 8.0 or higher.
2. Feeling confident? Give Pro mode a go
When you’re ready to go even further with Nightography, let Pro mode take your photos to the next level. Pro mode gives you more freedom to alter individual camera settings such as the shutter speed, exposure and aperture. You’ll want to practice using the different settings and light levels to explore all the cool features of Pro mode. To get you started, why not try a lower shutter speed to capture more light at night, a higher ISO value (ISO 400+) for enhanced image clarity in low light or increase the exposure for even brighter evening photos.

3. Get artistic with your Nightography
Be brave and bold - Nightography can be just as enchanting as daytime photography. Get creative with what you have around you and don’t be afraid to take advantage of negative space to really highlight your subject. Play with the symmetry, height, distance and lighting to give your images a different perspective. Whether it's chasing ghosts with night street photography, or a sensational bokeh snap there are many magical moments to be captured at night. Looking for inspiration? Exploring Galaxy photography is a great place to start.
4. Don’t be afraid to play around with your images
Once you’ve captured your night image try having a play around with the various editing features. For example altering the saturation levels changes the intensity and vibrancy of the colours - your photo takes on a whole new lease of life. Or get creative with perspective - flip images on their head or rotate them for an artistic feel. And when you’re ready to save your photo, opt for a RAW format rather than PNG or JPG. The latter are compressed formats which means less detail and editing capabilities.
