Using Parental Controls on my Samsung Phone

Add content restictions and set other limits to help your child balance their screen time using Parental controls. Follow the below guide to learn how to set up Parental Controls on your child's device, Manage screen time and stop supervising.

Please Note: This guide is designed for Australian variant Galaxy devices, if you have an international device and require further support click here to get in touch with your Samsung subsidiary. Screenshots were captured from a Galaxy S20+ & Galaxy Z Flip operating on Android OS Version 10.0 (Q), settings and steps may vary depending on your Galaxy device.


Parent device

1 Head into your Settings > Digital welbeing and parental wellbeing
Launch Settings > Digital Wellbeing and parental controls
2 Select Parental Controls
Select Parental Controls
3 Tap on Get Started
Tap on Get Started

Select Parent
4 You will then be directed to download Google Family Link for parents through the Google PlayStore. Once installed, launch the application
Download and launch Family Link
5 Read through the on-screen instructions then select Parent
Who will be using this device - Parent
6 Ensure you are signed into your Google Account then tap on I'm ready

7 Does yoour Child have a Google Account? Tap on Yes to add in the account or tap No to create a Google account for your Child
Does your child have a Google Account? Tap on Yes or No
8 A code will populate on the parent screen, this code will need to be entered on the child's phone.
Enter Code from parent device onto child device

Child device

9 On your child's device head into the Google PlayStore and dowload Google Family Link for children & teens
Launch Google Playstore and install Google Family link for children & teen
10 Launch the app then tap on This device
Tap on This device
11 Select a Google Account to supervise
Choose an account to supervise

If multiple Google accounts are signed in on your Child's device they will all be removed once you have selected an account to supervise.

12 Enter in the setup code on the parent device
Enter in the code on the parent device to connect
13 Re-enter your child's Google Account password then tap on NEXT
Re-enter child's Google account password
14 Read through the permissions and tap on Allow
Allow permissions
15 Once the two devices are connected tap on NEXT
Devices are now connected

Parent device

16 Once connected you will be able to Manage Settings, View Location, Review Activity, Screen Time and App installations of your child's device
Scroll down to Location then tap on set up
1 Scroll down to Screen time then tap on Set up
Scroll down to Screen time then tap on set up
2 Toggle on Daily Limit and select the days you would like to apply
Toggle on Daily Limit and tap on the days you would like to apply
3 Switch to BEDTIME and toggle on to enable. Once you have set your schedule tap on SAVE
Toggle on Bed Time and tap on the days you would like to apply
1 Tap on three dots icon
Tap on the 3 dots
2 Select Account Supervision
Select Account Supervision
3 Tick the Stopping Supervision box then tap on Stop supervision
Select Stop Supervision then tap on
