How to use SmartThings on your TV

On selected 2021 and 2022 Samsung TVs, you can use the TV's SmartThings app to connect with compatible smart devices. This includes Samsung, as well as products from brands such as Amazon, Google, Philips Hue, Ring and more. Connect, automate, and manage everything in one easy-to-use SmartThings app on your phone.

SmartThings App Layout
1 Device list category
Place - Displays all places connected via the SmartThings app.
Devices near TV - Displays all the detected devices that can be connected and controlled. You can run the control options after selecting a desired device.

Please note: Available options may differ depending on the device and TV model.

2 Add device
Displays the list of devices that can be registered on your TV. You can register any by selecting a device.
3 Samsung Account icon Samsung Account
Go to the Samsung Account screen to create a new account or sign out of your account.
4 Gear cogSettings
Configure notification settings for devices connected via SmartThings. Turn on the SmartThings Hub feature.
5 Map/List
Displays the detected devices in a map or list.

Use the mobile SmartThings app to register your TV, smart appliances or various IoT devices. Some IoT devices can only be registered using this mobile app. The smart devices you've added to the SmartThings app on your phone will appear on your SmartThings TV app. You can add, view, monitor, and control them right from the TV.

1. Download the SmartThings app on your device's Play/App Store and install it on your phone

2. Open the SmartThings app

3. Choose Add device

4. Select Devices then press on the ‘+’ button

5. Choose TV

6. Select Samsung

7. Tap on Start
Note: Ensure your TV is turned on.

8. Select a location and room for your screen

9. Turn on your TV using your TV's remote control.

Note: Make sure your phone is near your TV and that they are connected to the same Wi-FI network so they can connect

10. Select the device you want to add

11. An information box will appear on your TV with a PIN that you will need to enter into your phone.

Note: A pop up may appear on your TV to approve the connection by pressing the Select button on your TV remote.

12. Your phone has now successfully connected to your TV.
