Neo QLED, QLED or OLED Neo QLED, QLED or OLED

Neo QLED, QLED or OLED.
Which one is best for me?

Samsung Neo QLED, QLED and OLED are all premium TVs that have Quantum Dot technology and Pantone Validated for vivid colour accuracy and incredible picture quality¹ – the difference comes down to where and how the TV is used.

Both Neo QLED and QLED TVs are designed for bright rooms, bringing content to life in sun-filled Aussie homes, with Neo QLED being our pinnacle TV for remarkable picture quality. Samsung OLED TVs excel in dark rooms, offering an immersive cinematic experience.

Powered by Quantum Dot

Samsung's OLED pixels are powered by Quantum Dot technology.  Each pixel consists of three subpixels (red, green, and blue) to optimise brightness, colour accuracy, and durability - this is why the Samsung OLED TV is one of the most popular choices. With over 8 million specially engineered self-illuminating pixels, contrast is virtually limitless. Hollywood’s HDR movies and streaming shows leap off the screen with unimaginable detail.

Smart connectivity

Samsung smart connectivity delivers a simple yet powerful Smart TV experience. Connect compatible devices or tap into your favourite games, apps, and services.  Gaming consoles, soundbars, or other devices can easily be connected via HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) and USB ports. Several TVs also have Bluetooth technology allowing wireless connection with compatible devices.

True Dolby Atmos

Lose yourself in the breathtaking realism of cinematic sound. Your TV features built-in up-firing speakers and True Dolby Atmos support to deliver larger-than-life audio experiences. In addition, your Samsung TV can wirelessly transmit the Dolby Atmos signal to your compatible Samsung Soundbar for an easy and wonderfully immersive sound experience.

The best seat in the house

Ultra-Wide Viewing Angle means almost every seat can be the best in the room. Delivering vibrant colour while maintaining detail, Samsung OLED screens are designed to optimise your viewing experience from a range of angles. Inspired by a laser beam, these models have incredibly sleek and lean profiles, featuring a minimal bezel and an ultra-thin side profile for a sleek finish on your wall.

Helpful Features

Wirelessly mirror the screen and audio from your compatible smartphone, tablet, or PC to your Samsung OLED TV for maximum impact.  Keep up with fast-paced sports and action movies, with Samsung’s Motion Rate 200. The 1ms pixel response time helps you experience smooth, clear motion through the most dynamic of scenes in sports, movies, and games.

Intelligent mode

Intelligent Mode uses a combination of smart sensors to fine-tune the audio, picture, and brightness so that the action looks and sounds almost real.  EyeComfort optimises brightness and colour for a warm and welcoming picture. By detecting local sunset and sunrise times, the clever technology in EyeComfort automatically adjusts your screen so that it’s softer on the eyes to help you relax even further.

Find the perfect screen

The Samsung OLED TV range features 55-inch, 65-inch and 77-inch screen sizes. Discover tips on where to position the screen for the best viewing experience, in this simple Buying Guide.

All about OLED TVs

  • What is an OLED TV? Is an OLED TV worth it?

An OLED TV is a high-end TV that uses self-illuminating pixels on screen, different from other TV models that rely on a backlight to illuminate the screen from behind. Each pixel in an OLED TV can be individually turned on and off, resulting in ultra-precise dimming and lighting control. The unique technology that enables OLED TVs is in the very name — "OLED" stands for "Organic Light Emitting Diode."

Due to the superior contrast and refresh rates, it's worth getting an OLED TV for immersive experiences like gaming. Because OLED TVs can turn off lighting right down to the pixel, they can create deeper blacks and enhanced contrast that really make the details on screen stand out. In addition, the pixel-precise control in OLED TVs allows for quick responses to changes to the image on screen — resulting in high refresh rates and ultra-smooth motion.

So in short, it's worth getting an OLED TV for the incredible immersion that the superior contrast and refresh rates provide, especially if you're a dedicated gamer.
  • The main difference between Samsung OLED and QLED TVs is the lighting technology — OLED TVs use self-illuminating pixels on screen, while QLED TVs have a backlight that illuminates nanoscale-sized particles called Quantum Dots.

While both OLED and QLED TVs are high-end TVs with incredible picture quality, this difference in lighting technology leads to subtle differences in how the images are displayed. With self-illuminating pixels that can be individually turned on and off, OLED TVs are able to create deeper blacks and more dramatic contrast. On the other hand, QLED TVs have Quantum Dots that can each radiate its own colored light, resulting in enhanced brightness and color accuracy.

To learn more, check out our TV buying guide on OLED, QLED and Neo QLED TVs. It breaks down the differences between these types of TVs, and explains how these technologies work.
  • The best OLED TV really depends on the specifications you want — such as size, picture quality and refresh rate — that fit into your budget.

With all that considered, screen size tends to be one of the most important factor for picking out your best OLED TV, or any TV for that matter. That's because bigger screens provide a more immersive viewing experience, letting you watch your favorite content in vivid, larger-than-life detail. For specific tips on what TV size to get for your space, check out our TV size buying guide.
  • There is no best TV to buy in general, as the best TV is different for each individual based on price, style, size and other factors. For example, even though OLED TVs are an excellent choice for immersive experiences, other TV models may better fit your personal needs.
