Screen turns off while using Galaxy phone or tablet

Your Galaxy device has a power saving function that turns the screen off after a predetermined amount of time. If it's set for 15 seconds, it may seem like the screen is turning off too soon, but this is normal. The amount of time can be adjusted from 15 seconds to 10 minutes.

Important
If your device’s screen doesn't turn off or on during calls, you may need to clean the proximity sensor.
1

Change your device’s timeout settings.

Navigate to and open Settings and then search for and select Screen timeout. Tap Screen timeout again. Choose the desired time limit for your screen to stay on. Keep in mind that the longer the duration, the more battery life is used.
2

Turn on Keep screen on while viewing.

Navigate to and open Settings and then search for and select Keep screen on while viewing. Tap the switch to turn the feature on. This prevents the display from turning off while you are looking at it.
