Call and text messages blocking issues with Galaxy phone

If you can’t receive calls and text messages on your Galaxy phone, the contact or number may be blocked. You can double check your blocked lists, reset your network settings, and check your SIM card to resolve the issue.

Disable Do not disturb mode.

Navigate to and open Settings, then tap Notifications, and then tap the switch next to Do not disturb to turn it off.

You can also open the Quick settings panel by swiping down from the top of the screen using two fingers. Then, tap the Do not disturb icon to turn it off.

Make sure the contact is saved correctly.

Navigate to and open the Contacts app, and then search for the desired contact. Select the contact and check their information, such as their name and phone number.

Check your blocked contacts or numbers.

Samsung Messages app: Open the Samsung Messages app, then tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Settings. Tap Block numbers and spam, and then tap Block numbers. Check the list for your desired contact and remove them from the list if needed.

Phone app: Open the Phone app, then tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Settings. Tap Block numbers, and then check the list for your desired number. Tap the red minus icon next to the number to remove it.

Contacts app: Open the Contacts app, then search for the desired contact. Select the contact, and then tap More. Tap Unblock contact.

Restart your phone.

Swipe down from the top of the screen and tap the Power icon. Tap Restart, and then tap Restart again to confirm.

Reset mobile network settings.

Navigate to and open Settings, then tap General management, and then tap Reset. Tap Reset mobile network settings, then tap Reset settings, and then review the information. Tap Reset to confirm.

Verify and inspect the SIM card.

Remove your SIM card and inspect it for damage. Contact your carrier for assistance testing the SIM or for a replacement. If you have another active phone on the same network, you may be able to exchange SIM cards between the phones to test them.

Contact your carrier.

Contact your carrier to verify your account is in good standing and your service is active.

 

If you recently changed carriers but kept using the same phone, you may need to contact the current carrier for assistance reprogramming the phone for their service. If you hear a recording every time you place a call, make note of what the recording says and contact the carrier.
