Cannot use the Samsung Health Monitor ECG feature

Samsung Health Monitor app on phone screen

The ECG feature and Samsung Health Monitor app are available exclusively on Samsung Galaxy phones and watches. There may be a few reasons why you cannot activate the feature. You should check if the app is available in your country, make sure you have updated the app, and check your cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

The information gathered from this device, Samsung Health, or related software is not intended to diagnose, cure, mitigate, treat or prevent  disease or other conditions. The ECG app is not intended for users under 22 years old or with known arrhythmias, other than atrial fibrillation, and is not intended to replace traditional methods of diagnosis or treatment. Users should not interpret or take clinical action based on the device output without consultation of a qualified healthcare professional.

  1. Make sure the Samsung Health Monitor app is available on your devices.

The Samsung Health Monitor app is available on any Galaxy Watch4, Watch5, or the Galaxy Watch Active2 and the Galaxy Watch3 models running Tizen 4.0.0.8 or higher, sold for use in the US, and paired with a Galaxy phone running Android 7 (Nougat) or later.

  2. Check for an active cellular or Wi-Fi connection.

Swipe down from the top of your phone to open the Quick settings panel. Then, touch and hold the Wi-Fi icon to open Wi-Fi settings and check if you’re connected to a network.

  3. Check for available software updates to the Samsung Health Monitor app.

On your phone, navigate to and open the Galaxy Store. Tap Menu (the three horizontal lines), and then tap Updates. If an update is available for the Samsung Health Monitor app, tap the Update icon next to it.

  4. Restart the app on both devices.

On your watch and phone, close the Samsung Health monitor app. Then, open the app again on both devices.

  5. Restart your phone and watch.

    • To restart your phone, swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Quick settings panel, and then tap the Power icon. Tap Restart, and then tap Restart again to confirm.
    • To restart your watch, hold down the Back key and Power key simultaneously for 10 seconds. When the Power menu appears, continue to hold down the keys until the watch displays "Rebooting..." on the screen. Then, the watch will restart.

After restarting your watch, Samsung Health Monitor will be available.
