Samsung Health Monitor app keeps closing

There are a few reasons why the Samsung Health Monitor app might shut down while you’re recording your ECG. This can occur if the app can’t detect your wrist, if the app’s software needs to be updated, or if your watch and phone are not connected via Bluetooth and the Galaxy Wearable app. You should make sure you're following these instructions for recording your ECG properly.

  1. Connect your watch and phone via Bluetooth.

Swipe down from the top of your phone’s screen to open the Quick settings panel, and then tap and hold the Bluetooth icon. Make sure Bluetooth is turned on, then wait for your watch to appear in the list of devices, and then tap it to connect.

  2. Pair your watch to the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone.

If they haven't been paired yet, you will need to connect your phone and watch through the Galaxy Wearable app. Navigate to and open the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone, and then tap Get started. Select your watch from the list of devices, and then allow permissions if necessary.

Tap Scan for nearby devices if your watch does not appear.

  3. Check for software updates for the Samsung Health Monitor app.

On your phone, navigate to and open the Galaxy Store. Tap Menu (the three horizontal lines), and then tap Updates. If an update is available for the Samsung Health Monitor app, tap the Update icon next to it.

  4. Select the correct wrist in the Samsung Health Monitor app.

Open the Samsung Health Monitor app on your phone, and then tap Menu (the three horizontal lines). Tap Accessories, and then tap Wrist selection to choose the wrist where you’re wearing the watch.

  5. Make sure you are recording your ECG properly.

During the recording process, make sure:

    • Your fingertip fully covers the top button.
    • You do not move your arms or talk.
    • You do not press the top button, only cover it.
    • Your finger is resting lightly on the top button for the 30 seconds it takes to complete the recording.
  6. Restart your watch.

If the problem persists, you can try restarting your watch. To restart it, hold down the Back key and Home (Power) key simultaneously for 10 seconds. When the Power menu appears, continue to hold down the keys until the watch displays "Rebooting..." on the screen. Then, the watch will restart.
