Unable to sync contacts on Galaxy phone or tablet

Your Galaxy phone or tablet can synchronize contacts with many different services. Each one will have slightly different options and settings, and some will require that service's app to be installed. Luckily, support for Google accounts is built in.

Unable to sync contacts on Galaxy phone or tablet

Note
The phone or tablet must be connected to a Wi-Fi or mobile network in order to sync data.

Make sure Auto sync is turned on.

Navigate to and open Settings, and then tap Accounts and backup. Tap Manage Accounts, and then tap the switch next to Auto sync data at the bottom of the screen.

 

You should also check the above sync settings on the previous device that your contacts are being synced from.

Turn on sync for each account.

Tap an account and adjust the sync settings as necessary.
 

  • Google account settings can be accessed by selecting your Google account and then tapping Sync account. Make sure the switch next to Contacts is turned on.
  • Other account types may require settings to be adjusted in their respective apps or in the Contacts app.

 

You should also check the above sync settings on the previous device that your contacts are being synced from.

Select which contacts to show.

Navigate to and open the Contacts app, and then tap the Menu (three horizontal lines on the top left). Tap the drop-down menu at the top of the screen, and then tap All contacts to show every contact from every service.
