Lights are blinking on the Samsung dishwasher

Some Samsung dishwasher models don't have a digital display, so error codes are displayed as blinking lights instead. The combination of blinking lights determines what the code is. However, since lights may blink as part of regular use, you should really only consider this an error code if the dishwasher isn't working normally, such as stopping mid-cycle. Resolving the error code typically involves a slight correction, such as adjusting the temperature of your water supply or making sure that the drain hose is installed properly.

Lights are blinking on the Samsung dishwasher

Important
  • If your dishwasher is displaying an error code instead of blinking or flashing lights, see our other article for the code's meaning.
  • Always perform the correct troubleshooting before attempting to reset the dishwasher or clear the code. Otherwise the issue causing the error will not be addressed, which may cause the error to return or impair the dishwasher.

This means the dishwasher's leak sensor detects moisture. When this code occurs, the dishwasher will turn itself on and will not turn off. During this time it will attempt to drain the water.

  • If you see a leak, refer to our dishwasher leaking guide for troubleshooting.
  • If you're certain that there is not a leak:
    • If you recently moved the dishwasher, some water may have splashed near the sensor. Give it time to dry. If the noise of the dishwasher is bothersome, unplug it or turn it off at the circuit breaker.
    • If you've recently connected the dishwasher to a garbage disposal, make sure the garbage disposal cap is removed.
    • Make sure the detergent dispenser has not been overfilled or extra detergent added outside of the dispenser.

Any other combination of lights are blinking

Blinking lights do not always indicate an error code. On some models, the current status of the cycle will cause lights to blink. Before assuming that blinking lights indicate an issue with the dishwasher, check if the dishwasher is experiencing any other issues or symptoms of any kind.

If the dishwasher displays a combination of flashing lights that is not included in this list, troubleshoot the issue the dishwasher is experiencing. You can search our support content for an article that addresses your issue directly. Otherwise, if your dishwasher is operating normally, no action is needed.
